the space!. Yes, lots of times you should attack the space,
but NOT every time! Its kinda like eating cake. Just because I have a beautiful, delicious
cake in front of me does it mean I should eat the whole thing? NO! You shouldnt always eat the cake. Yes, you want too, but it doesnt mean you
should. Same with attacking the space, just because
its there doesnt mean you attack it. In this OSA video we will go over some examples
on why not to always attack the space. Example 1, Defensive center mid. If you are in a defensive center mid position
with the ball around midfield and your attacking center mid is pushed up and you have 20 yards
of space ahead of you should you take it? Well it depends, but in this situation Id
advise not taking it. Few things happen when you attack the space. First you are leaving space behind you. So if you or your teammates lose the ball
your defensive shape is lost and you are open to a counter attack. Second, when you dribble forward defenders
are going to come towards you. This can be an advantage, but it also cuts
down your passing angles as the space between you and the defenders gets less. Example 2, Outside full back. Lets say you get wide when your keeper gets
the ball. The keeper rolls you the ball and you have
20 yards of space ahead of you. Should you attack the space? In my opinion, no. Your job has a full back, when you are in
your defensive third and have the ball, is to make simple passes into the playmakers. Yes, if you are in the attacking third and
have space that makes a little more sense to take a chance and attack the space. But in the defensive third, dont just attack
the space because its there. When you do this your passing angles decrease
and if you or your teammates lose the ball you will be out of your defensive shape. This is very risky as you are close to your
goal. Be like legendary investor Warren Buffett
and decrease your risk! So if you dont attack the space does that
mean you should just chill? No! Instead make a pass and keep the ball moving. First pass you see, make it. Dont overthink it. Bonus Tip! Do what the game shows you! Soccer isnt like math. Not everytime does 2 plus 2 equal four. Sometimes the game will show you to attack
the space and its the right situation to attack it. Sometimes its not the right situation. Thats your call to make it, but make your
call with confidence. If its the wrong call, NO BIG DEAL! Just get back on defensive as fast as you
can. Hope you enjoyed this Online Soccer Academy
