Strong air currents run in the southern hemisphere blowing from west to east. The strongest winds cover the 60th parallel south These are called Screaming Sixties On the 50th parallel – Furious Fifties And the 40th – Roaring Forites These winds create huge storms. Waves generated by these storms travel towards equator… …forming so called ‘swell’… …and when they reach the shallows of the shore they break. And that’s where we come around. Once a year i try to reset my ‘normal’ life And spend at least a month somewhere far away. Here, in Sri Lanka we spent 2 months 2 months of a really simple life. Together with Godzio and Kasia we end up in a small villa just by the ocean… …in a small village called Midigama, on the south of the island. Godzio and Kasia were on a year long journey across Asia… So we decided to meet up here to surf. Just behind our villa, settled another couple of friends, Ogór and Tuśka… …who in turn were underway a half-year long trip. Several meters from us lived Zuska, who visited us after 5 months in India. While Adam and Wisnia were on ‘normal’ vacation from work, they came along for 3 weeks. So we managed to gather an eight person group at the other end of the world! In the mornings we ate some oatmeal whilst the island was waking up And without wasting time we headed to our spot. Which was just in front of our villa. We mainly surfed on two spots – Plantation and Coconut But in the nearest neighbourhood there were plenty of other spots to choose If we wanted some change. We surfed almost everyday for a couple of hours Some might think that can get boring quickly… …but with surfing this is not the case. You are surrounded by pure nature and element Your mind is kind of in a different state. Additionally, everyday activity makes wonders for your body 😉 So we never had enough. Ok, there already was a surfing sequence – now Fails. ‘Film the cut and how it opens’ Sometimes you can end up like this 😀 I got a VIP room in the hospital A pack of nurses attended me. I got tons of drugs. They made sure my bill was as high as possible 😀 ‘I’m after surgery’ ‘Fortunately everything went well’ But they patched me up really well. Normally we ended surfing around noon… …when the winds started. We spent our afternoons relaxing, reading… …watching Game Of Thrones. Meals were the highlights of the days 😀 As i said, we lived simple lives there But with such crew we never got bored. In the evenings we had some beers and played board games. Losers had to snort some ayurvedic powder we got from India… …which made one sneeze really hard 😀 One night, something extraordinary happened. ‘He has no idea where the ocean is’ ‘A turtle came to our house’ ‘Man, he is so strong!’ ‘And he is off’ ‘Yay he made it!’ Occasionally, to break the surf routine, we rented scooters (and a tuk tuk once)… …and did some trips, exploring the island. Often, we drove randomly in a certain direction, just to see what happens. Btw, it is really awesome to have friends… …who look at world the way you do. With whom you inspire one another and create great memories. Someone once said, that you are the average of the 5 people you spent the most time with… …and if it’s true then i got lucky. Those here appreciate life, and understand how short it can be. They live on their own terms. ‘How was the tea?’ ‘Oh, exquisite’ ‘This was sucking my blood!’ Dear Friends, if you are watching this film, you must know… …that i’m really grateful for this.
