WITH NEW DEVELOPMENTS. 3 STEFANY LL INTRO: XAVIER PARKS DIED HERE AT THE LAURENS COUNTY DETENTION CENTER ON FEBRUARY 1ST, ACCORDING TO THE CORONER. AFTER WEEKS OF NO ANSWERS ABOUT HIS SUDDEN DEATH, HIS FAMILY DECIDED IT WAS TIME TO QUESTION THE SHERIFF. AT AN OPEN DIALOGUE… HELD AT NEW BEGINNINGS MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH… THE COMMUNITY AND XAVIER PARKS’ FAMILY GRILLED SHERIFF DON REYNOLDS FOR INFORMATION. ELIZABETH PARKS/XAVIER PARKS’ STEPMOM: “HE JUST NEEDED MEDICAL ATTENTION AND THEY DID NOT GIVE THAT TO HIM.” SHERIFF REYNOLDS SAY THE DETENTION CENTER STAFF GAVE PARKS A LAXATIVE ON THE MORNING OF FEBRUARY 1ST. HOURS WENT TO CHECK ON HIS AND FOUND PARKS UNRESPONSIVE IN THE BUNK OF HIS CELL. SHERIFF DON REYNOLDS: “THE THING THAT TROUBLES Y’ALL OBVIOUSLY THAT I CAN SEE IS, AND WOULD TROUBLE ANYBODY, IS WHAT TRANSPIRED BEFORE THAT.” ACCORDING THE SHERIFF SICK INMATES ARE TREATED BY THE NURSE. IN MORE SERIOUS CASES, INMATES ARE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL.
