Sierra Leone’s Only Woman Surfer

My name is Kadiatu Kamara They always call me KK I’m 19 years old I am the only female surfer
in Sierra Leone My father passed away two years ago In that moment,
Ebola takes place in Sierra Leone That’s why I joined the surf club so when I have that kind of stress,
I have to surf All the stress goes away Sometimes when the waves are very good I wake up at six o’clock in the morning I go down to the beach If you want to do something,
you have to prepare yourself because surfing is not easy As for me, I have to surf so that is the way During Ebola time,
surfing changed my lifestyle I always think about the waves I always think that I’m surfing
in another different country I feel free, I feel happy,
and then I feel so proud Watching the wave, focus on the wave how the wave is going to break where the waves are good,
where the waves are not good where is good to swim,
where is not good to swim And then, when you sit in the water,
you have to wait for the wave You just have to wait for one wave I’ve missed plenty waves a million waves As for me, I have to surf so that is the way I feel so different on the wave,
like I’m the real KK So I think I’m going to start
another new life I think everything is going to be okay now That is my dream My name is Kadiatu Kamara They always call me KK I am 19 years old I will be a professional surfer
in Sierra Leone
