Online Snowboard Lesson: Responsibility Code #7 Lift Safety

Know the lift. We went over lift safety quite a bit in in L1 RAW But part of the responsibility code is to be able to ride the lift safely. Know how to ride the lift safely know how to load and unload the lift safely, if You’re a little bit hesitant on the lift Go back to L1 RAW and review the lift safety. The lift is a fast moving heavy Piece of metal those chairs can be like around 500 pounds so if you have that piece of metal coming around 10-15 miles an hour and that hits you. It can really hurt so Part of the responsibility code is to be able to load and unload the lift safely. Finally we’re on the lift you know we Talked a little bit about riding the lift It’s one of the most dangerous things out here on the mountain so you want to know lift safety. You don’t want to be bouncing on the lift you want to be sitting nice Not jumping around not looking back behind you and slip off the lift. “Have you known anyone that’s fallen off the lift?” Yeah, I’ve known quite a few people have fallen off lifts, and it’s not a pretty sight. When we’re out here, we’re playing around we’re doing the tricks or snowboarding one of the most dangerous things out here is the lift So we want to really be aware of lift safety! Again, I’ll go over some of the factors are getting on the lift, so we follow the lift out. We wait in the line And the lift chair passes We follow the lift out We wait for it. We want to make sure that our foot is standing, our back foot is standing on the toeside edge not the heelside so if I sit on and get on the chairlift like that my knee will hit and Flap, I’m on the chair if if I’m back here with my foot on the heelside edge I’m trying to sit on my leg. A lot of people I’ve seen fall off the chair laugh when they put in the foot right They’re not ready for it, so have your foot either on your board or on the toeside edge. I prefer the toe sideedge because then when the the lift comes up to it, It’s my knee I sit right down onto the chairlift If you’re uncomfortable riding lifts refer back to L1 RAW Riding The Lift How to Unload and Load the Lift Properly. This is just one of the many tutorials that we have. Sign up for the full course at Flowingfreeride.com Subscribe, like and comment Cheers FFR! Subscribe, like and comment Cheers FFR!
