bestsoccertricks.com. This video is going to be showing you guys how to do a long
ball. Alright guys, so what’s essential in it in this drill about getting a long
ball is that a lot of times in a game you’ll have to what we call switch to
play. As a winger or as a defender a wingback, you’ll be on the line and
you’ll see there’s a lot of pressure on one side of the field
and you’ll see that the other side of the field is open. You have a teammate
that’s open and you want to get it to them in one long kick, one precise kick
that gets right to them so that you may continue to advance the play. So what’s
essential here is you want to get it to him and as few bounces as possible. You
want to get enough height on the shot as you see my partner is across the field and
I’m going to try getting it to him without making it bounce or at least with very
little bounce is very few bounces so that he can resume with the play. [Soccer player making a long ball kick] Alright guys, so again in this long ball
drill we’re going to talk about your body position when you’re approaching the
ball. So as you know they tell you a lot of times when you’re approaching the
ball to keep your chest down so that the ball does not lift up, does not go up high
over the net. Here in this instance you’re trying to switch it over to your
teammate on the other side of the field, so your body will be leaning a bit back
because you want you want to get that ball in the air. You want to get it up in there
you’re not, it’s not a long ball on the floor. If it were to be a long ball
on the floor, then of course the body down would apply but your chest should be a
bit more open because you want to get the height on the ball. You want to be able to
get it over because remember there’s players in front of you those defenders
want to get over them and to your to your partner to your teammate with
precision and with enough power. So you’ll see my body position here as I’m
approaching the ball, my chest is high I want to get enough height on the ball

foot for one you want to switch the ball over to to your teammate, it could vary
it could vary, but you of course you want to get some power into that ball so
typically you will not be going into the ball with the inside of your foot
because generally you will not get enough power in this this way. You want
to advance to the ball as if you’re if you want to get some height, you want to
get some power into it so you want to get under the ball, you want to get under
it so that it’ll travel far enough and get to your teammate. So make sure you
get under the ball don’t wrap it around don’t wrap your foot around it, you don’t
want this to be a curve, you want this to be a direct, you want this to be a direct
