How To Backside 180 With Grabs On A Snowboard

Backside 180s are a simple
spin trick but can still be extremely stylish. They have a floaty, slow feeling
and are the favourite trick of many riders. As you take your Back 1s to bigger
jumps, you’ll discover how little rotation is needed. A smooth toe edge
takeoff with minimal upper body movements will usually create enough
momentum for the spin. Adding grabs will make your Back 1s look rad! Practicing
with a Tramp Board is the best way to get the feel of different grabs and
increase your style. On a tramp, you should be able to force yourself into
doing all six basic grabs with your Back 1s. Indy, Mute, Melon, Stale, Nose & Tail. This will make them far easier to do on
a snowboard. On a snowboard, start with a grab you’re
most comfortable with. Get a strong pop off the lip by using an active but smooth
extension with your legs. This makes it easier to suck up your legs while in the
air and also gives you more time for a solid grab. You may not get them all but
the grab you find easiest with your Back 1s, will probably be the easiest
grab to start with on your Back 3s. This tutorial was filmed at Whistler Blackcomb.
